The Way

Jesus spent about 33 years with mankind. He established His ministry that birthed the church during the final three years. His 12 apostles shared the gospel with a hopeless world, and thousands of hungry souls accepted Him as Savior.  The church grew in number—a multi-faceted collection of followers from all walks of life, each with a different trait, spiritual gift, and personality.  And it flourished, even under heavy persecution by the Roman government.

The early disciples used a secret symbol—the fish—to identify each other, perhaps from Jesus’ reference to his apostles as “fishers of men.”  And today, we the church remain as those “fish” caught by Jesus and who follow “The Way” to eternal life (John 14:6; Acts 19:23; 24:22).

This stone represents the Church.  Its multi-faceted surface glitters with reflections of light from over 220 diverse facets.  And deep within, a fish reminds us of our early Christian brothers and sisters who craved the fellowship of other Believers under risk from a hostile government.
